In 1919, Dave Gustafson purchased a Russell-Pull Blade and Flower City Wheel Tractor, marking thebeginning of one of the most colorful histories in South Dakota highway construction, a history thatcontinues to this day. Work from the early 1900’s through the depression was difficult, and employment of men was moreimportant than production. Dave Gustafson still forged ahead.
