Description
Highover Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the scenic Hele Hele (Hella Hella) route between Richmond and Donnybrook. The nature reserve straddles the Mkomazi River, and has 14km of river frontage. Highover is 2000ha in extent and adjoins the Soada State Forest which comprises approximately 500ha of spectacular mist belt forest.
Highover has Natural Heritage Status (Natural Heritage Site No 44) on account of its scenic beauty and numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species.
Dramatic landscapes comprising cliffs and mountain tops, waterfalls and rocky river beds, steep forest clad gulleys, rolling plains, clear star strewn night skies and ethereal morning mists combine to make Highover a magnificent destination.
