Description
Being homeless, many for the first time they don't know where to turn. The kids who come to Horizons are confused and afraid. The "thrill" of the street life doesn't last long and the reality of sexual and physical assault, hunger and sickness usually dissuades even the most adventurous teenager.
Without the life skills to be able to manage their own lives, they don't know how to budget, rent an apartment or even cook for themselves. Being 16, homeless and vulnerable means that many people are able to take advantage of you. Not knowing how to survive, they turn to prostitution, selling drugs or even worse to make it on the street.
At Horizons, we give them more than just a bed out of the cold…more than just a hot meal. Horizons gives them hope; hope of finding a job, securing housing so that they can become independent members of our community.
