My first experience with a reptile as a pet was in the form of an adult Ball Python I purchased many years ago at a local pet shop. I was told it had just eaten and that it would eat mice which I could obtain from them. However, I soon realized I had been victimized by unscrupulous pet store personnel who were just interested in making a buck. As with many Ball Pythons sold in the pet trade, this one was wild caught in Africa and refused to adjust to captivity. After trying a myriad of suggestions offered by the pet shop personnel, my first snake died of starvation. This angered me to the point of sending me on a "quest" of sorts to educate both pet store personnel and the general public about the proper husbandry and natural history of reptiles and amphibians. I soon took on the job of Education Committee Chairman for the East Texas Herpetological Society and have held that position for many years now. This has allowed me to teach a wide cross section of humanity the wonders of herps and their place in our world. In March of 1999 I was also elected PresIdent of the ETHS, so needless to say I stay busy!

Houston Herpetological Supply was begun in March of 1993 as a wholesale reptile and amphibian supplier for the pet trade in the Houston, Texas area. Over the years our emphasis has shifted to developing a breeder program composed of animals of the highest quality at a fair price, while still giving the quality service needed to satisfy both the beginner and the advanced hobbyist. The vast majority of animals offered for sale are produced at Houston Herp Supply. However, we are associated with several larger, very reliable breeders in the Houston area that have the same attention to quality found here. Please contact us if you have any special needs.
