The domain name industial.org formally came into being in 1998 when I noticed the domain was about to expire away from its previous owner and my persistance in submitting requests to Internic paid off. The site's history however goes as far back as 1994 and includes various previous evolutionary incarnations.

After a pseudo tour down the west coast of the United States with my band at the time Martensville (long since defunct, check out griefer to see what I am up to musically these days), I decided that all the work I had gone to just to score the few dates I managed to should be shared so I started up the DIY Tour Guide (now defunct due to lack of interest but it helped a lot of folks while it was around). This fairly quickly led into other DIY related stuff, a demo submission black list (defunct), then the industrial DJ list (gloriously up and at 'em) and from there the site steadily ballooned into the full blown in depth industrial resource it is today. Since about 1997 the focus has been purely on industrial related culture with the express mission of encouraging and nurturing our end of the cultural landscape in whatever way we can.
