Description

Julie Wylie has a Bachelor of Music with first class honours, and was the recipient of the Vernon Griffiths 2002 Music Award for excellence in musical leadership from the University of Canterbury. Julie is the founder of Canterbury Musical Parenting Association and has been an early childhood supervisor for the Ministry of Education. She has worked in all sectors of the education system and is a music specialist at the Champion Centre, Early Intervention Trust. Julie is the author of "Music, Learning and Your Child and composer of a wide range of children's music resources.

Julie's music resource "Sing Upon a Rainbow" was published by Pro Arte in 1992. Her book, "Music, Learning and Your Child" was published by the University of Canterbury Press in 1996 ( reprinted as a second edition in 2000 ) and she has written the major section of the handbook "Music and the Young Child", part of the University Studies in Education series.

Her resources include "Sing Baby, Dance Baby", "Swing Me A Song" and "Dancing In A Circle". These are complementary to "Sing And Play". Currently lecturing in specialist music courses, Julie is also a music specialist at The Champion Centre, Early Intervention Trust and is available to present papers and workshops in special education and early childhood music.
