Embassy of Kazakhstan to the United States and Canada

Description

The United States of America became the first country to recognize the independence of the Republic Kazakhstan and to establish the diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan on December 26, 1991. Both the American Embassy in Kazakhstan and Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C., were opened in 1992.

Since that time, Kazakhstan had three Ambassadors to the USA, Messrs. Alim Dzhanburchin (1992-1994), Tleutai Suleimenov (1994-1996) and Bolat Nurgaliyev (1996-2000). Current Kazakhstan's Ambassador to the USA is Mr. Kanat Saudabayev, who presented his Letter of Credence to President George W. Bush on St. Valentine's Day, February 14, 2001.

The Embassy is located in a picturesque house at 1401 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20036, which is on the corner of 16th and O streets. The nearest underground station is Dupont Circle.
