- I have been totally involved with the performing arts since first attending opera and symphony performances in junior high school. Later, I played in various performing groups through high school and college. After graduating from U. C. Berkeley in 1973, I began promoting concerts, managing performing artists, and producing shows. These ranged all the way from Sun Ra, to Broadway musicals, to ballet (e.g., a “Giselle” with Alicia Alonso, and a “Nutcracker” with Galina and Valery Panov). In 1984, I became Vice President of Capitol Records in Hollywood, California. In 1993, I became Senior Vice President of Atlantic Records. There, among other things, I was responsible for a company called A*Vision, which was a producer and distributor of specialty video and low-budget features.
