Description
Customers of telecommunication administrations and operating companies are increasingly demanding modern communication equipment that is available wherever and whenever they need it. To meet this demand at an international level the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has specified the GSM (Global System For Mobile Communication).
GSM900 defines a standard for a public land mobile network (PLMN). The GSM900 band will be operated in the 900 MHz frequency range (890-915 MHz uplink or 935-960 MHz downlink).
The base station system (BSS) is the D900 part of the radio subsystem (RSS). The BSS consists of the transcoding and rate adaptation unit (TRAU), the base station controllers (BSC) and the base transceiver stations (BTS).
