The varieties we recommend have been field tested in a suburban environment with a severe deer, squirrel, rabbit and chipmunk problem. The animals left all these recommended varieties alone. However, it must be remembered that animals will eat anything when stressed. Severe drought, severe cold/heat and construction projects which damage or destroy longstanding animal habitats will force animals to feast on vegetation they would ordinarily avoid.
