Conceived in 2003, and established in 2004, Teamworkz is working to ensure a secure future for the tourism industry in Laos. By working in collaboration with the Lao Hotel and Restaurant Association (LHRA) and the Worldhotel-link network of locally owned hotel e-marketplaces, Teamworkz offers an easy and reliable source for tourists to book hotels and guesthouses in Laos at discounted rates. The work to create the LHRA and guide its development has been made possible by the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) working in cooperation with the LNCCI. MPDF is committed to supporting the development and growth of private, domestically-owned, small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR. MPDF offers a variety of services directly to SMEs as well as to the individuals and institutions that serve them, and seeks to improve the business environment in which they operate. Founded in 1997 and funded by 13 donors, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Australia, Canada, Finland, France, the IFC, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, MPDF is managed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group (WBG).
WHL is a private company based in Hong Kong, providing a packaged accommodation e-marketplace service to local operators. The service was developed from extensive experience gained in a project to e-enable local accommodation providers in the Mekong region - experience which allowed us to build a package of services enabling even the poorest of local accommodation providers to participate on the web. The key to the success of the service is the marriage of the best of internet technology and web marketing with an on-the-ground presence in each location accommodation is offered.
