About Lebanese Books Inc.
We are good friends, some related, some tri-lingual. All are avid readers, and all are overwhelmingly proud of our Lebanese and Arab-American culture and heritage.
One fateful evening, we were dining at a colorful Mezze table featuring some Fattouche Salad, Hummus, Mutabbal (Eggplant dip), spinach Fatayer, Kibbeh Saynieh (Baked Beef pie) among other yummy dishes. Our appetite was being satisfied and dozed with sips of drinks ranging from diet sodas to Arak (the Lebanese national alcoholic drink made out of white grapes and lickerish). The reigning topic of discussion was once again the Middle East.
Specifically, we were referring to some western media and some reporting within the Middle East labeling various sad events as resulting from a "Cultural Divide". We are of the opinion that this is both simplistic yet a vague interpretation of politics in the most historical region of planet earth...
