Leonico Designs Ltd has two co-founders, Leona Duncan and Nicola Kane. We met in our first year at Glasgow School of Art, where we studied design. During our final year we began to develop the idea of designing handmade wedding stationery. We discovered when searching online for wedding invitations for Nicola's forthcoming wedding that choices were limited and that no one was doing quite what Nicola was looking for. Since both graduating with a BA Hons in Design we have developed this idea and started our own online service.
When designing our collections we use a similar design process to that which we used at art school. Initially we gather inspiration from photography and drawing, and then we develop these into possible design ideas, matching colours and textures to the photographs. The final step involves considering placement and wording then deciding on the shape of the card.
In addition to our wedding stationery service we also started to do some Wedding Advice Sites covering a variety of subjects such as choosing your wedding dress, wedding flowers, wedding photography and much more. We have continued to add to these and after finding that we are getting good at the online marketing we have started to branch out into other areas and focus more on this side of the business.
