Title

Conservatives in Chorley - Home

Description

The Malpas's first came to Lancashire in the very early 1900's with grandfather Egbert at the age of 33 and his first wife Sophia moving to 173 Whalley Road Accrington from native Berkeley in Gloucestershire. Sadly Sophia was to pass away.

At some point he moved to lodgings in Avondale Road Chorley where presumably he met my grandmother who lived then in Gillibrand Street. Coincidentally, Westminster Road is next to Avondale Road and off Gillibrand Street. They also lived in Devonshire Road near Trinity Church. My grandparents were great Methodists.

Moving to Horwich he set up his own business at 58 Lee Lane in Horwich as a Master Tailor and lived there in Pioneer Street.
