Title

Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited

Description

The Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited is a conservation organization whose mission is to conserve, protect, and restore Michigan's watersheds which support wild trout and salmon. The Council serves as a coordination and communication link between the 23 individual Trout Unlimited chapters in Michigan and the national TU organization. The Michigan Council consists of an executive committee including officers and coordinators, representatives from each of the individual chapters, advisors, and representatives from other conservation and fishing organizations including Anglers of the AuSable, Michigan River Guides Association, Pere Marquette Watershed Council, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Federation of Fly Fishers, Lake Michigan Task Force, and the Michigan Fly Fishing Club.

The Council works with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the United States Forest Service, the county drain commissioners, and others to ensure that the perspective of wild trout and salmon are not forgotten in the many land use and resource issues that threaten our precious wild salmonid resources. The Michigan Council meets quarterly and publishes a very well known newspaper, the "Michigan Trout." MCTU also conducts one of the country's premier fly fishing schools each June.
