Hello Monica,

You probably cannot help me, I have written to Dr. Hilary, Rt Alan Johnson and many others and have not even received an acknowledgement, but just in case you do respond I have copied the text I have sent to these other people. After reading about eating causing overweight and depression along with that. My question is, if you are terribly depressed and hospitalised because of it can you eat your way out of depression. Here is the letter I have sent, if you bother to reply you will be the first: Hello Dr. Hilary,

Please help me and by doing so help my wife. If you cannot help for whatever reason please just send a reply saying sorry cannot help. But please answer one way or another and I will move on. As a Postscript I put more detail in, but have kept the core letter to the to the basic facts as your time must be precious. The additions will be numbered in line with the paragraphs.

1. Last September my wife developed the symptoms of Acute Anxiety and Depression. For about a year she had been suffering womb problems too. The Doctors started her on Citalopram, in various doses.

2. The drugs did not help at all and she continued to lose weight. She also developed Water Retention and Chronic Constipation because she lost her appetite and started to eat and drink less each day. I took her to Accident and Emergency because of the severe pains she had. This happened seven times in four weeks.

3. The Acute Clinic at the hospital picked up on these visits and called her in for assessment. We went and they decided they wanted to pull her in for rehydration and food supplements. However, in the ward they assigned her to was a lady with dementure who sang and shouted all the time.

4. This terrified my wife because she thought it was the asylum ward and so refused treatment and asked to go home. They fetched in a doctor from the Psychiatric unit to assess her. He agreed she needed support for her anxiety and depression and this would cure her problems. This should be done at the Mental Health department.

5. She was seen by a doctor there and he stated he could cure her in two weeks. My wife said she did not want to go in during Christmas week. The drugs were changed to Mirtazapine. This seemed to help and she began eating again, though not very much.

6. By this time she had lost three stone in four months. At our practice and hospital she had seen about ten different doctors. All of them agreed she was not insane or mental, but suffered terribly from Anxiety and Depression. She continued to lose weight after Christmas until the home nurse thought it was best my wife went into hospital, which she did in March. Altogether she had now lost five stone.

7. They changed and supplemented her drugs and after two weeks her weight stabilised. She then put on a couple of kilo's over the next two weeks.

8.Although I am pleased with this I have many reservations about her psychological state. Some of this is because of the other "clients" who are psychotic or have severe personality problems. Some of it is due to the way the assistants are. She is deteriorating again emotionally and has started to loose weight again.

9. I have seen the Doctor and the Ward Manager to express my concerns. There is usually only one senior qualified nurse on duty and they are supported by "assistant carers".

10. Any good achieved, any progress made is fast disappearing.

11. The psychiatric hospital say they can only help with her anxiety. Her physical problems need to be treated elsewhere.

Doctor Hilary, I have wept many tears because she looks so pitiful. I love her so much and do not want to lose her. What can I do now, I hope this is not too much?

Kind regards,

Terry Carter. 262 Kenpas Highway Green Lane Coventry CV3 6PB.. Mobile 07946 871 748

PSPSPS:

1. Several doctors said her womb was alright and it was in her mind. It cost me a £101 to see a Consultant who agreed it had dropped 25mm - 50mm. My wife was right all along.

2. Several times she was offered admission and treatment but declined because she was terrified of hospital. She received some rough capheta treatment as an out patient.

3. This patient really distressed her and again she declined treatment.

4. The A&E said she needed Psychiatric help, The Psychiatry unit later told her she needed A&E help. They could not agree between them.

5. This doctor gave me hope.

6. This move also gave me hope and I thought they were on the right road.

7. This move also gave me hope and I thought they were on the right road.

8. She still has severe pains in her bottom because of constipation. They have tried Lactilose, Movicol, Fibregell and so on. She still has severe pains in her vagina because of her exposed clitoris. They rays, scans and camera, to our knowledge, have revealed nothing.

9. Some of the staff have been very spitefull and unsympathetic. I could write pages on this.

10. I am fearful that at best she will suffer this pain and symptoms for the rest of her days.

11. I can only sell the house and try to get her cured through private consultants.

We are both sixty-six this month. I love her dearly and want to see her without pain. Help me please if you can!!!!
