Mountain Top Timbers specialises in creating solid timber furniture and rocking horses for the individual. Owned by Gordon and Hazel Buchanan, Mountain Top Timbers is based on the beautiful Dorrigo Plateau in the mountains of northern New South Wales, Australia.
Surrounded, as we are, by some of the most spectacular timbers in the world, we have made it our ambition to preserve some of this stunning timber for future generations in the form of beautiful and practical works of art. It is our belief that the labour intensive process of handcrafting individual pieces of furniture compliments and reflects the true value of these special timbers.
Gordon's craftsmanship skills first came to the fore in 1978 when he started building a 40' yacht in Sydney. Through this experience he discovered an innate ability for design and a passion for working with timber. In 1986, on completion of the project, Gordon sold Kay and moved to Dorrigo, where he has been indulging his love of timber and his creativity ever since.
