Description

Msaada , is an organisation established by concerned individuals in the Blackmore Vale area of North Dorset/South Wiltshire, England to help victims of the Rwandan genocide to rebuild their lives through self-sustainable development projects. The group is under the patronage of Fergal Keane of the BBC who reported on the atrocities in Rwanda in 1994 which left about one million dead and millions of lives in ruins.

Msaada — a Swahili word meaning help — is working with the Association des Veuves du Genocide Agahozo (AVEGA), a self-help group who are seeking to assist 2948 widows and 5538 orphans in the Kibungo area of Rwanda left destitute after the horrors of the ethnic cleansing, to establish self-sustaining projects to encourage prosperity, development and growth.

Avega assists the survivors in a multitude of ways including training, education, livestock projects, medical assistance, HIV/AIDS treatment, counselling, legal advice, etc. (For a comprehensive account of Avega’s work CLICK HERE )
