Description
MyWeb-OnTheGo is a Java mobile comparison shopping assistant. It was one of the earlier mobile entrants into the comparison shopping field, but was never marketed to the public. The software has been downloaded 20,000 times since its release in 2006, and continues to receive a fair share of comparison shopping traffic.
Although the site title describes MyWeb-OnTheGo as a vehicle to access popular web applications via a cellphone, development of the product was halted very soon after Amazon.com integration was completed. It's therefore always referred to as "Amazon-OnTheGo" in all of its materials.
Amazon-OnTheGo was created soon after a widget of the same name was created for the Bluepulse mobile platform. Both were created by Shaun Taylor of Swirl Mobile as vanity projects; the Java mobile version was used as a test project for evaluating the J2ME Polish mobile build tool.
The software was verified on two platforms, but the device support is out of date. While it covered a broad range of devices in 2006, support for current popular phone models remains unknown, but likely.

Swirl Mobile announced plans to open source Amazon-OnTheGo in 2008, along with it's Swirl Connect software, but it's not been finalized yet.
