Description
I'm a total Daddy's Girl & I proudly admit it. That's where NessaLee comes from. As a little girl when my dad would come home from work I'd run to the door to greet him (in my stylish little diaper) and he would pick me up, spin me around and yell out 'NessaLee!' Nessa from Vanessa and Lee is my middle name. When we were brainstorming names for the site NessaLee seemed like the obvious choice to me.
I was born in New York and my family moved to central New Jersey when I was eight. But don't worry, the 'burbs didn't stop me from getting my fair share of dress up. I loved tutus, mom's old gowns, grandma's jewelry and making dresses out of the towels in the linen closet. Who would've thought that I was about 20 years ahead of the terry cloth trend?
After graduating college with a degree in journalism, I stumbled upon the fashion industry by accident. I know that sounds silly, but I definitely wasn't heading in that direction. I worked briefly in the entertainment industry and also dabbled in event planning (which I still love). One cold day in November, (and I remember it was cold because I detest the cold) I got into a discussion with some women about how much I loved to shop. I must have been rambling about brands and quality and blah blah blah because the next thing I knew they were begging to hire me to do their holiday shopping. How could I turn that down? I figured it would be a fun, one-time thing. Well, those two women told their friends and then my phone started to ring. Strangers were leaving messages with their sizes and color preferences on my answering machine. Like I said before - how could I say no? Then 10 grew into 25 - all asking for advice on the contents of their closets... One day I was picking out centerpieces and the next I had a full fledged personal shopping operation. Unfortunately, (or maybe it's fortunate) there were too many clients and just one of me. I loved what I was doing so much, but it became difficult shopping for 25 different women at one time. I wanted to continue providing them the brands and styles they love, but also reach more people that may not have access to the great shopping we have in the NY metro area. And then it happened. NessaLeeStyle.com was born!
