Description

Information About This Web Site

NMRA on the Web is a virtual web site. The NMRA web pages do not reside on a single web server, but are prepared, maintained, and supported on multiple web sites by NMRA member volunteers. This virtual web site has been authorized by the NMRA Board of Trustees, by the unanimous adoption of the NMRA Network Presence Proposal at the NMRA Board of Trustees meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 28, 1995. The individual pages of this virtual web site have been approved by the Executive Director of the NMRA.

The proposal was prepared and submitted by an Ad Hoc Working Group and presented at the Board of Trustees meeting by Rich Weyand. Many members of the Ad Hoc Working Group and others donated funds to fly Rich Weyand to Phoenix, Arizona for the Meeting. NMRA member volunteers have graciously donated their personal computer resources to host the NMRA on the Web site. Many of these volunteers maintain other information useful to model railroaders on their web sites.

Information on preparing a web page, proposing it as an NMRA web page, and getting linked into NMRA on the Web is available for NMRA members who wish to contribute to this effort. You should read this information, and contact either the NMRA on the Web site administrator at madisonrails@railfan.net or assistant site administrator at ddawdy@ribbonrail.com to find out what assignments are available and what help is needed. Three templates are available. Template 1 is for the general NMRA on the Web pages. Template 2 and Template 3 are for specific NMRA on the Web pages where the format is critical to the content. Specific permission is necessary to use either 2 or 3. All are to help you get started.
