Description
Until recently, I was living in Vancouver, Canada - working for Crystal Decisions (now Business Objects) as a Team Lead in the IT-Applications department. Prior to that I had my own consulting business (as did everyone else during the .com days) and have worked at a couple of other smaller software companies always in a software development position.
I lived in Vancouver for 10 years emmigrating from Scotland in 1993 after finishing a degree in Computer Science from the University of Aberdeen.
I had always been screwing around with Linux on the PC: the whole "Unix" thing had some uber-geek factor to it that seemed much more "real" computer than Windows, and when a friend of mine (a long-time mac user) showed me OSX, I was hooked. I love being able to run windows, x-windows and mac/osx-native apps all at the same time on a rock-solid OS that doesn't crash. OSX is still a little rough around the edges (read: slow finder/dodgy windows networking), but every release makes it better.
