- I think a lot about what makes different countries more or less amenable to private equity and what roles private equity players should take up in different countries. Whether I write about this is another story.Be forewarned that my work history shows no experience in private equity and that I do not pretend as such. Still, this the field in which I would ultimately like to work. In fact, this is the field I have always wanted to work in, but for many years I didn’t know that this is what it was called–”private equity”. I thank the fabulous professors at London Business School, where I spent Fall 2004 on exchange, for shedding some light.I have a BA in International Relations with a Minor in Environmental Social Science and an MBA, both from the University of Southern California. In my life before the MBA, I was a market research analyst for consumer goods and high tech companies. I am now the Director of Programs & Communications at the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.* The best job I’ve ever had (until now) was as a competitive analyst at Intelsat, the global satellite provider–my job was to understand the competition’s interest in different regions of the world. Microsoft, Disney, Da Vinci Gourmet (now owned by Kerry Group), and several now-defunct startups have employed me doing similar work.
