Maggie Goodsell
Maggie Goodsell was born and raised in the village of Pulborough, West Sussex and studied Horticulture at Writtle College in Essex. She is now, with partner Mark Rowland, joint owner of Laughing Owl Nursery near Spalding in Lincolnshire, a nursery which has one of the most advanced sweet pea breeding programs in the world.
Combining her lifelong interests of horticulture and art, she has used this unique opportunity to create a range of paintings of sweet peas which are the basis for many of her cards and notelets. This project has been extended to include other floral and botanical subjects as well as drawings of historic and achitecturally interesting subjects from her native Pulborough.
Maggie has paintings in several private collections and occasionally exhibits. Subjects are usually painted from life, but where this isn't an option, she works from sketches supplemented by good quality photographs.
