The Pendleton Air Museum - Preserving Military Aviation History
Description
About the Pendleton Air Museum
PAM is a non-profit foundation organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. Our mission is to acquire, preserve, interpret, demonstrate and display, for public enjoyment and education, items representing the history of the Pendleton Army Air Base, early predecessors of the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport and their subsequent role in regional development. We hope to commemorate the history of both military and civilian commercial aviation in NE Oregon and SW Washington and to memorialize the sacrifices of local soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. Through our exhibits, events and activities, PAM aims to preserve this heritage and educate visitors, residents and future generations regarding this history and service.
Other goals include promoting local economic development and, courtesy of an understanding with the Oregon National Guard, opening up the valuable, underused assets of the ORNG Army Aviation Support Facility and Armory to the cultural and commercial benefit of our community, state and region. We intend also to familiarize the community with and to demonstrate the utility of these under-appreciated local resources and services.
