Description
Plano Public Library System is a department of the City of Plano, Texas. The system consists of five community libraries serving citizens of Plano and Collin County. Holdings include approximately 686,997 books and magazines, audio visual materials, and a wide variety of resources and services. During the most recent fiscal year, 2003 - 2004 the libraries circulated 2,681,026 items.
The purpose of Plano Public Library System is to make freely and readily available to the citizens of the community printed and other materials and services which are responsive to their diverse, changing, and individual requirements for information and which will aid them in the pursuit of education and recreation.
The library seeks to promote programs which will stimulate and expand the reading interests of both children and adults and to coordinate this work with that of other educational, cultural, and social groups in the community.
