Poe's Petites is a family run business. Melvin and Peggy Poe have been raising miniature horses since 1989. Melvin Poe, age 78, is a retired professional huntsman with Orange County Hunt. Peggy, still age 21, worked by his side as whip. Melvin still hunts today with the Bath County Hounds, spanning 60 years of fox hunting.
Melvin began foxhunting as a teenager during the Great Depression. In his career, he has worked for Old Dominion Hunt and Orange County Hunt. It has been his pleasure to hunt with such notables as Becky Cook, Robert Duvall, Ray Firestone, Tab Hunter, Jackie Mars, Paul Mellon, Jackie Onasis, Abe Pollin, Dick Smothers, Bruce Sundlun, and Senator John Warner.
