REVIEW OF PowerBar
PowerBar® is a well-known manufacturer of nutrition bars and drinks that are advertised to benefit health and possibly generate weight loss. According to the web description, this company’s mission is to “empower consumers to make smart dietary choices.” These nutrition bars are said to augment diet and exercise and are not necessarily advertised to create weight loss on their own. It’s unlikely such a method will generate significant weight loss, and those consumers who desire bigger results may want to look elsewhere. It is low in fat with 25 grams of complex carbohydrates with 230-240 calories per bar. PowerBar® Beverage System is a sports drink that is said to hydrate the body, provide energy and recovery after a hard workout with 170-180 calories. PowerBar® Gel provides carbohydrates and electrolytes for immediate energy with 110-120 calories. It is said to be the first sports gel to include both the carbohydrates and electrolytes in a high-end sports drink. The gel has four times the sodium of other gels and is said to have a fast energy delivery into the system. PowerBar® ProteinPlus™ and PowerBar® ProteinPlus™ Reduced Sugar are protein bars with 23 grams and 20-22 grams, respectively, of high quality protein and is said to aid in building a lean body while providing sustained energy. It has a blend of protein and carbohydrates to help you body recover after a workout. The reduced sugar version has 1 gram of sugar per bar while adding 16 vitamins and minerals, 0 grams of trans fat, and no artificial flavors or colors. PowerBar Harvest® is a whole grain energy bar with 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and 23 vitamins and minerals. PowerBar® Nut Naturals contains crunchy nuts, real fruit, 10 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber, no trans fat, and 16 vitamins and minerals. PowerBar® Triple Threat™ contains 10-11 grams of protein, 220-230 calories, 4 grams of fiber, and 16 vitamins and minerals. PowerBar® Pria™ are especially made with women in mind. They are packed with 23 vitamins and minerals including calcium, protein and antioxidants. These supplements may be best suited for a quick-meal option. Though, since they are not abundant in all the necessary vitamins and minerals consumers may not want to do this on a regular basis. However, in the end capsule-based supplements do offer the most tested and effective delivery method, which will ensure the supplement gets properly absorbed into the body.
