PPCalc.com is a free online PayPal fee calculator. It allows anyone with a PayPal account to quickly and easily determine their PayPal fees before they accept money online. We also allow you to "reverse" calculate your fees to find out what amount a person should send you so that you actually get the amount you want after PayPal fees have been taken out, or what we like to call a Reverse PayPal Calculator.
PayPal is a service which allows any individual or business with an e-mail address the ability to safely, quickly and securely send and receive money online. PayPal is most often used in eBay transactions, but can also be used by any online business or storefront (as a way to accept credit cards for instance). PayPal has been around since 1998, and in October of 2002 they were acquired by eBay. As of the time of this writing (May 2005) they are quoted as having over 71 million user accounts worldwide. PayPal allows it users to choose from 3 different types of accounts, which I will explain in further detail here.
First, there is the Personal Account, which is most often used by beginners or for people who don't use PayPal that much. The Personal Account lets users both send and receive money online using PayPal for free, however the only caveat is that you cannot accept credit cards and you are limited to receiving $500 (USD) per month. Also, until you add and confirm a bank account you are only allowed to send $2,000 (USD) using a Personal Account. Personal Accounts are used mainly by individuals for personal reasons (for instance, splitting a restaurant tab) and are normally not used for selling items on eBay (mainly because of the fact that most buyers want the convenience of paying with a credit card). More often than not, Personal Accounts are used for small transactions or for people who don't buy and sell online very often.
