Roger E Nixon - Military & Historical Searches

Description

The service was established in the summer of 1996 by Roger Nixon to cater for the ever growing demands of academic and family researchers throughout the world for a dedicated search-research facility. Since then somewhere in the region of nearly 8000 clients have been provided with the results of research undertaken at the National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office) at Kew, the British Library, the Asia and Pacific Collections (previously the Oriental & India Office Collections), London Metropolitan Archives, The Guildhall Library, Society of Genealogists Library and the Newspaper Library. Repositories outside of London have also been catered for subject to need but to a lesser extent. Some commissions have been merely half an hour whilst others have run for months.

Over the years the demands on the Military & Historical Searches service have steadily increased. This has necessitated the retention of associates of which Roger Nixon is head and also lead researcher specializing in army subjects. He now manages a team including specialists in military and naval subjects, marines, merchant navy, Foreign Office and departmental subjects and British India. Added to these are others specializing in pure genealogy, paleography, transcriptions and so on.
