Luis "Emilio" Ríos, born in Havana, Cuba is a world-renowned singer, guitarist and composer. His debut in 1975 at a student's festival lead to his joining of the "Movimiento de la Nueva Trova" (Modern Song Movement) in 1979, after which he turned professional in 1983.

Along with his brother, Efraín Ríos, (regarded as one of the best Tres players in the world), he founded "Septeto Raisón" in 1989 which grew to become one of the most revered traditional Cuban groups in the 1990s. Together, they toured continuously across all seven continents to more than 15 countries. As well, they recorded for labels and studios such as Egrem (Cuba), Sony (US), JVC (Japan), Kubana (US), Alabianca (Italy), etc.

Luis Emilio Ríos is constantly hired as a songwriter for many established singers - he is best known for "Que Manera de Quererte" which has received international acclaim and has been recorded by over 20 Latin artists including Albita Rodríguez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Xiomara Laugart, Pablo Milanés, Omara Portuondo, Dioni Fernández and many others. This composition was also used as the soundtrack on the movie "The Specialist" starring Sylvester Stallone & Sharon Stone (musical production by Emilio Estefan).

Luis Emilio Ríos is a member of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the academy that grants the Latin Grammys. In addition to his own, extensive discography of over 20 records, he has also found success in the role of producer.
