Computer Games to Download

Description

Small, independent developers have historically had a rough time competing in the computer games industry. Often they are inexperienced developers who lack the skill necessary to create a game with a professional level of polish; or even more often, they attempt a project that is just too ambitious. The results are often incomplete or watered down games that just can't captivate people the same way that major studio games can. This is quite a shame, because independent game makers often have wonderful ideas for games, but no way to bring these ideas to reality.

The struggling small game company wasn't always the case. In the mid-to-late 1980's, the Commodore 64 computer was booming, and the games that followed were nothing short of amazing. Never before had hardware been pushed to, and beyond its limits like the C64. Games from small and large companies alike competed head to head- and the large companies didn't always win. Creativity oozed from the C64 scene that was never seen before- or since.

Retro64, Inc. was created by a professional game developer, Michael W. Boeh, to revive the creative spirit of the C64. Our games aren't Quake 3, and we don't want them to be! We strive to make small, fast, polished games that take no time to learn, yet are fun to play over and over again. And while we do look back longingly at yesteryear, we understand that we want our games to play like those great games of the past- but not look that way! We use the latest hardware 3D accelerated graphics and digital stereo music to create game environments that are pleasing to the eye and ear. Sure, our games are based on concepts that are 10 years old, but they look great and are a complete blast to play.
