Description
The St. Julie Asian Center is a nonprofit center of hospitality and education founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame e Namur in 1985. Developed in light of the gospel call "to welcome the stranger," the Center prepares Asian immigrants for better life in America.
Through cultural immersion and direct training, the Center provided essential language and vocational skills for immigrants from all over Southeast Asia. Classes are offered in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Computer, and Citizenship.An on-site Family Literacy Program offers preschool children of adult students at the Center of the opportunity to acquire basic readiness skills in a safe and supportive environment. Monthly Life Skills workshop provide information and training on such topics as Fire Safety, Banking and Finances, Health, and Immigration.
St. Julie Asian Center is a non-profit educational center, founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in conjunction with Father James Galligan, OSA, to respond to the needs of a new people in the Lowell area, in the light of the gospel call “to welcome the stranger.”
