The S.F.L (Southern Football League trading as AFL Southern Tasmania) is the largest football competition in Tasmania with 18 clubs affiliated. They are Brighton, Central Hawks, Channel, Claremont, Clarence, Cygnet, Dodges Ferry, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huonville, Kermandie, Kingborough, Lauderdale, Lindisfarne, New Norfolk, North Hobart, Sorell, & Triabunna. The SFL is affiliated with AFL Tasmania.
The League was formed in 1996 with the merging of the Southern Amateurs and 2 teams from the Huon Football Association. The league was then known as the Southern Tasmanian Football League (S.T.F.L.)
