Summer's Skin was born in a small kitchen, looking to create skin care for dry skin in a desert environment. The first step was a solid lotion bar that healed cracked heels and scaly legs, from there a lotion, body butter and lip balms evolved. I wanted skin care that worked without water, alcohols, chemicals, things that in the end dried my skin out more than healed and moisturized.
As I continued the creative process and decided to offer my skin care to others I knew I wanted to do so right, I may have supplies that were global, but I wanted to shop local and with the highest quality. My honey and beeswax come from our local beekeeper, I finish the processing of the beeswax in house. It retains a beautiful light brown (Honey) color without the bleaching of commercial beeswax, and gives a golden hue to our products. Our oils are purchased from a small company that imports plants globally from very select growers and use a cold press or steam process only, no additives, fillers etc. just the highest quality garde a oils. For our butters I looked and found companies organized around the women who actully produce the product in ghana and honduras. This opportunity offers them a good wage, benefits and the ability to build their communities with schools, healthcare and infastructure. I may buy global products, but do so locally!
As you use our products remember there are no additives to them, water, alcohol and chemical "dryers" are not added. It takes a very small amount of product and it will melt into your skin as it is absorbed by the skin, not at the rate of water, alcohol and drying agents evaporating off of your skin. It will leave your skin with antioxidants, vitamins and protection that are minimal in the "Store bought" lotions of today.
