"'The Mission"' The mission of the Centre for Investigative Journalism (“CIJ”) is to provide a centre of excellence in the training of professional journalists, researchers and writers, to ensure that high professional standards of investigative reporting are maintained and raised. The Centre will provide resources, research and training in London as well as Africa, Asia, and Continental Europe, where little currently exists. The Centre’s principals and the great majority of its supporters were trained and mentored in leading press, radio and television teams in the UK, France, and the US.

A Board of Trustees supports the activities of the Centre and provides advice and governance. It includes: Simon Albury, Chief Executive of the Royal Television Society Michael Gillard, of the Lorana Sullivan Foundation, and a leading financial journalist in television and print, R.J Pierpont, Co-Executive director, Association of Small Foundations. A US foundation advisor with long experience of major funders. Brian Basham, Equities Investments and charities consultant Elaine Potter, author, former Sunday Times Insight Team, of the David & Elaine Potter Charitable Foundation. The Director, Gavin MacFadyen, a former BBC and World in Action producer/director has designed and led programs in the U.S., Norway, South Africa, the National Film & Television School and in a number of UK Universities including Oxford, Anglia, Cardiff, Westminster and London College of Communications and is presently a Visiting Professor at City University.

Funding & Support Core support, and bursary funding has been received from the Lorana Sullivan Foundation, the Lucy Foundation, the Open Society Institute, The British Council, the Ford Foundation, and the David & Elaine Potter Charitable Foundation
