The Media Foundation has given an award for an outstanding woman journalist since 1981. The Chameli Devi Award honours one or more outstanding media person every year. It was instituted by the family of the late Chameli Devi Jain who was among those who responded actively to Mahatma Gandhi's call and participated in the Indian freedom struggle. An annual lecture is also organised by the foundation every year on the occasion of the awards ceremony.
The Hoot delivers a targeted audience of journalists, university teachers, NGOs, journalism students, media researchers here and abroad, and media consumers who are keenly interested in media issues. It carries a limited amount of advertising to meet its costs. Rates are as follows:
A 460x80 pixels banner that will be carried on all pages of the site will cost Rs 20,000 a month, or Rs 10,000 for 15 days.
