Description

Polymer Logistics is a leading provider of ‘One-Touch/Retail Ready Packaging (SRP)’ solutions, offering top of the line logistics - display products and services to clients worldwide. These multi-purpose solutions enable our clients to simplify supply and demand chain management by providing products that not only carry goods from the factory to point of sale, but double as attractive retail displays. Our strong brand name is a result of a combination of sophisticated technology, customer - driven product design, extensive knowledge and expertise in materials handling and logistics management, along with an unparalleled commitment to first class service, leasing options and IT software.

Polymer Logistics was established in 1994 with the primary objective of developing materials handling products. By 1999 it became evident that the “Fast Moving Retail Consumer Goods” market with reusable/returnable display packaging represented a significant opportunity due to the annual number of rotations per merchandising unit. The units’ polymer composition allowed for complete design freedom in terms of satisfying both retailers’ and suppliers’ needs relative to functionality, dimensions, protective patterns, as well as aesthetics on the sales floor - all of which could be easily adjusted.

While the company was gaining experience in both identifying and meeting the market’s needs, so did market demand for rental units and logistics management services dramatically increase. To address that growing need, the company began paying more attention to providing rental services to the retail market for “One-Touch” plastic packaging.

Additional Information

Egg producers in the U.K proudly select Polymer Logistics to handle their product shipping. Over time they have seen steady improvements in their supply chain management in the way of less expensive automated packaging and transportation, dual-purpose, in-store display crates built to prevent fracture, as well as innovative cost-cutting logistics solutions.

However satisfied these clients were, there were still specific needs that, if met, would increase overall efficiency. The shipping crates were not ideal for a few reasons: The internal dimensions were not well suited for egg cartons. It was a tight squeeze to fit them into the shipper—which was difficult to accomplish without damaging the product. In addition, the clients felt their in-store display units were not exactly what they were looking for.

Polymer happily accepted the opportunity to help its customers and began conducting research immediately. The development team decided the next generation of bins should be better designed for use as in-store display units, able to accommodate a variety of different products. In the past the idea of product visibility was not a critical issue, since many of our primary clients used our products for produce. For produce transport, small holes in the bin sides prevented product damage and loss. Nonetheless, we considered all of the egg producers’ objectives and worked to find the optimal solution to meet their specific needs.
