- Boy Scout Troop 516 is in the Three Rivers District of the Northern Star Council. Troop 516 is chartered and sponsored by the Coon Rapids Rotary. Our troop draws its incoming scouts mainly from Cub Scout Pack 516, but scouts have joined and transferred from other areas and troops as well. Most members live in the City of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, a northwestern suburb of the Twin Cities which borders the Mississippi River. As a troop, we usually meet each Monday from seven to around eight-fifteen in the evening. Meetings are scheduled between September and May, with a three month 'break' for the summer. Each year, our troop goes on an average of about eight separate campouts: two weekends for the fall, two weekends for the winter, two weekends for the spring, and two full week camps for summer. Our summer camp we attend annually is called Many Point Scout Camp and lasts seven days. We also usually plan a High Adventure trip each summer. Our High Adventure trips are usually around seven days as well. In the recent summers we have traveled to Wyoming, Colorado, Boundary Waters, and Isle Royale. While participating in these events, scouts easily make friends quickly with other scouts. Our troop averages around 25 scouts. Troop 516 has had a total of 27 scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
