What UNIFEM is doing?
UNIFEM promotes women's human rights,including elimination of poverty, violence against women and is highlighting the gender dimensions of HIV AIDS. Development projects of UNIFEM
UNIFEM is working on projects for women's empowerment and is working on strategies to universally promote gender equality.UNIFEM provides funds to ensure women's active participation in all areas of development.
UNIFEM is facilitating dialogue at the regional level so that the global agreements for peace and security translate in to action. A part from being a women organization UNIFEM is proving itself to be an integral part of United Nations (UN).
UNIFEM is providing partnerships within women organizations to work for women related issues. Keeping in view the quote of ex- director of UNIFEM that "women want a world free from hatred, violence and poverty" UNIFEM is playing its role for ensuring women's participation in development projects.UNIFEM is providing budgets to protect women's economic rights.
Development programs in Arab countries
UNIFEM is promoting development programs for women in both Eastern and Western countries.UNIFEM is working for the empowerment of migrant women.UNIFEM Amman and UNIFEM Asia Pacific are working on a project to empower women migrant workers especially the domestic workers.UNIFEM is providing regional trust fund to protect and promote women's rights in Arab countries.UNIFEM is supporting Palestinian women in getting an access to counseling services so that women get rid of the humanitarian crisis they are facing because of the Palestine's pre-existing and existing situation.

UNIFEM has held forums for empowering migrant women. Moreover the regional conference for Arab women parliamentarians was also held in November 2006.A Job fair also took place in 2006 to provide job opportunities to the women.
Recent Events
Its been mentioned in the July 2008 issue of UNIFEM's newsletter that UNIFEM has succeeded in making the UN Security Council's adoption of resolution 1820 on women, peace and security, which is based to eliminate different forms of sexual violence against civilians, and is agreed on the fact that such acts should be considered war crimes, crimes against humanity and to promote gender perspective in development projects.
