Stories published in Vancouver magazine must be related to the city of Vancouver or the Lower Mainland in some way. They are often current affairs-oriented and should have a unique and fresh perspective on the topic. Most stories are under 1,500 words. Unfortunately, we do not publish poetry and rarely publish fiction.
It would be helpful to look at some back issues of our magazine to gain a sense of the topics we're interested in. You can also visit our website at vancouvermagazine.com for an idea of the stories that are published. The best way to approach us with a story idea is to either call, mail, email or fax us a brief query letter. Please also include a cover letter with a summary of published credits as well as tear sheets of previously published work. Keep in mind that we have a six-week lead time.
