Venice Magazine sprang from the imagination of Walter Martinez, a poet, intellectual, and bon vivant of the arts. He began publishing Venice Magazine in October of 1988 with an editorial focus on artists of every cultural persuasion. In the summer of 1991 he was joined by Nancy Bishop whose colorful background, coupled with a fervent appreciation for excellence in creative disciplines, resulted in a synergy that propelled Venice Magazine through the '90s and into the new millennium.
