Description
Dr. Berne received a BS from the Pennsylvania State University and his O.D. degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1984. He spent the following year at the Gesell Institute in New Haven, CT., studying infant/child development and learning disabilities. He was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship there in 1985. He is a Board Certified Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. This is the highest certification given in the field of Behavioral Optometry. Dr. Berne also spent three years with Dr. Hazel Parcells (1889 - 1996), a chiropractor and naturopathic physician, where he studied various forms of self-healing in Natural Medicine. Dr. Berne has received certification as a Cranial Sacral Therapist from The New Mexico Academy of Massage and Therapeutics. He has also studied craniosacral therapy through the Upledger Institute.
In his private practice, he has spent 20 years specializing in working with adults and children with various vision and health-related problems ranging from AD/HD, neuro-developmental delays, brain- injury, and dyslexia.
Dr. Berne has also conducted clinical research in the areas of macular degeneration, myopia reduction, vision development, the primitive reflexes, nutrition, and the effects of cranial sacral therapy on vision and health-related issues
