Title
Offical Site for Walker Jewelers - Cut Coin, Painted Jewelry
Description
These are real coins, even the ones with different shapes and unusual designs. I cut them all by hand with a Jewelers Saw(It resembles a minature hack saw). I start by drilling holes in each section fo the coin to get inside the rim, sometimes only 2 or 3 holes are needed; sometimes 25 or 30 holes must be drilled. The sawblade is then inserted (it's about the size of a strand of hair) and the coin's background is removed to highlight the design.
According, to the law, it is only illegal to do something fraudulent, for instance, take a common date coin that has no collector's value and alter it to a rare year or mint mark. Making it into jewelry is fine with the government.
I also do custom orders. If you have a coin, perhaps from your travels, I would be more than happy to cut it for you. It can bring back memories of a good time. Just tell me what coin you have and how much detail to cut, and I'll quote you a price.
