Walker Scientific is part of the Walker Magnetics Group which has been in magnetics since the late 1800's. This long-term dedication to the science of magnetics enables us to develop and maintain a broad and comprehensive product line designed to support the discipline of magnetics.

In the late 1800’s, a machine tool designer and inventor named Oakley S. Walker developed and patented the first rectangular electric chuck. In 1897, Mr Walker founded O.S. Walker Company, and in 1910 the company moved into its present location in the Greendale section of Worcester, Massachusetts. The original plant has expanded quite a bit since those early days. One of the original chucks developed by the O.S. Walker Company is currently on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
