The Wine Press website brings you the latest wine information, seeks out and introduces the best wines for your budget, provides a forum for discussion and for your queries, and our tasting panel of enthusiastic volunteers are ready with mouths akimbo to see, sniff, sip, swirl, savour and swallow and pass judgement using single-syllable words as far as possible.
With the exception of a tiny percentage of wine buffs, wine enthusiasts seeking down to earth, no nonsense wine information are not wholly well served today. Nothing new has appeared on television for ages; very few recent books and previously admired authors and presenters have either given up or gone on to use their talents in voicing over documentaries on television or appearing on celebrity TV shows
Wine Press was started 15 years ago as the voice of The Hong Kong Wine School, the leading South East Asia wine education centre founded and operated by international wine educator Chris Baker.
Wine Press will be updated quarterly, focusing on a new country and a selection of wines tasted by our panel; along with more frequent ad hoc articles found under Features (above).

Wine Press is put together by Wine Writers Circle member Chris Baker, a professional wine and hospitality educator for nearly 50 years.
His international career has taken him as a United Nations expert in Hospitality Education to the Middle East, as wine and hospitality educator in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Macau, Argentina, Chile, Italy, India, Spain and France.
He operated the Hong Kong Wine School for many years, carrying out programmes of professional courses leading to examinations through the noted Wine and Spirit Education Trust, up to and including Diploma level, also general interest wine courses, tastings, wine and food events and dinners.
Chris, aided and abetted by his right hand wife Sue, took groups of enthusiasts to Chile, Argentina and Italy, returning to those countries as government invited guests, with Chris being invited on a number of occasions as a presenter to the noted Renato Ratti International Wine Symposium held in Verona, Italy, and being invited a number of times to Chile and to Argentina as wine educator and wine judge.
On his retirement, Chris has returned to the UK and now gently coaches friends into wine tasting and appreciation, whilst maintaining his wine writing, particularly for Hong Kong based regional journal “Fragrant Harbour”.
