Description

Wunderle Sound Services is a companion business to Studio Perro Malo. WSS offers location audio recording and video production support services. Wunderle has worked in the video production business since 1988 and besides being a top notch location sound mixer/recordist, he can also grip, serve as production manager, assistant director, production assistant or location scout. For location scouting, we use a Sony Mavica digital camera and can email .jpg files immediately for your convenience. Wunderle has also written and produced several long form video pieces -for clients including Lebanon Vo-Tech, Missouri National Guard, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Glore Psychiatric Museum, Niangua River Outfitters, A-O Employment- and a number of TV spots.

In the studio, both Yankton and Wunderle engineer and/or produce. Yankton plays guitar and writes songs for one of southwest Missouri's finest bands, "Fullers Earth" and is widely known around town for being a great soundman for live music. The kid, as they say, "Has ears..." Yankton also owns and operates The Outland Ballroom on South Street in Springfield, a place known for its top of the heap PA system which Yankton put together and usually operates for the folks who play the Ballroom. Wunderle grew up playing in rock groups beginning in the 1960s. Over the years he's done live mixing for hundreds of bands. In the 1980s he worked with Lou Whitney at Column One Recording and from there assembled his own studio which eventually became Perro Malo. Yankton designed and built (literally single-handedly) the studio and control room and all of our clients have commented on how relaxed and "homey" the place feels. One guiding philosophy at Perro Malo is "Relax, get comfortable, enjoy yourself." We think that's the best way to make music or do a voice over.

Business at the studio is divided about 50/50 between musical projects and advertising clients (including audio for video). We've also done a few "Audio Books," music on-hold pieces and background sound effects for live exhibits. The soundscape in the new reptile house at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield was designed by Wunderle. He, along with musical partner Joe Terry, has written and produced a great number of jingles, music beds and sound effect schemes for radio and TV. The pair also composed an entire CD's worth of material that served as a companion piece to Stamina Products' "Meditation" video. Joe is an integral part of the Perro Malo team and also tours with both Dave Alvin and Robbie Fulks. In recent years Joe has played with The Morells, The Skeletons, Syd Straw and other fine folks. His prowess as a studio musician is unmatched.
