Description
Founded in 1944 by Zachy Zacharia, East Parkway Wine and Liquor House, later to become Zachys, was just a small corner store that the locals of Scarsdale came to purchase their choice of beverage for the evening. It was a neighborhood store where everybody knew everybody else, a comfortable place to discuss politics and to find the general items that one desired. Little did Zachy know that all of this would change... dramatically. In 1961 Don Zacharia, Zachy’s only son would come into the business and change it forever. Starting out with two employees, Don was on the path to affect the wine retail industry in such a monumental way that he would become a legend in his own time. He has never looked back. What was once the “wine and liquor business” now became the “Fine Wine Industry”. Don was instrumental in exposing the great houses of Bordeaux and Burgundy to the United States consumer, along with cultivating the growth and acceptance of Italian wines beyond the stereotyped straw basket of Chianti. Certainly, his vision was not only international as he was among the first to sell and support the one time small growers of California that have since developed into industry giants.
Don’s son Jeff Zacharia joined him in 1983 and quickly become instrumental in the success of the business. Now, as President, Jeff is the key to Zachys ability to secure the incredible selection of wines that we offer. He works closely with the growers in France, specifically in Bordeaux and is able to offer his expertise on these wines as he travels frequently to sample current and upcoming vintages. Jeff is also very focused on the overall business and making sure it is running as well as possible with the highest quality customer service.
Since the beginning, Zachys has continued to grow and grow and grow and grow. We have expanded a number of times beginning with 150 square feet of space (including storage) to what today encompasses 5,500 square feet of retail space, 25,000 of storage space (not including the 30,000 square feet of customer storage at our fine wine storage operation) and currently over 75 employees!

After touring the new facility this past Fall Don, Jeff & I were SOLD!!! Wow what a venue, for sports, dining, events and beyond. We could not be more excited to be associated with this project. So, here's the deal...
Zachys will provide the Mets and ARAMARK with overall direction in selecting fine wine from around the world.
The stadium's world-class wine selections, we will be able to offer new culinary possibilities for fans on gameday, as well as those planning and attending non-gameday events.
This venue will go way beyond baseball to create a year-round hospitality destination for non-gameday events at Citi Field, designed to host corporate meetings, receptions, private parties, trade shows, weddings, and a variety of other events.
Last July, the Mets and ARAMARK announced an unprecedented partnership with Danny Meyer’s Hudson Yards Sports & Entertainment (HYSE) to transport its culinary excellence and enlightened hospitality to Citi Field.
The HYSE group will be including outposts of the enormously popular Blue Smoke and Shake Shack, as well as two new concepts: a taquería and a Belgian-style frites stand.
HYSE played a significant role in the design and conceptualization of Citi Field’s Delta Sky360 Club, and will manage the dining offerings for this premium club area adjacent to the 1,600 seats located closest to home plate on the Field Level.
Zachys will take it's "act on the road" and in this incredible facility we will project our wine influence to conduct commercial wine auctions, large-scale consumer events, winemaker dinners, gameday tastings and much, much more.
In 2009 Zachys will be playing a major part towards bridging the sports and entertainment world with the world of fine wine and food.
