About arcticalchemy.com

Chris Bowen, an award-winning homebrewer tells the unique story of Allsopp\\u2019s Arctic Ale -- a British beer that has deep historical significance dating all the way back to 1852 when it was commissioned by Queen Victoria to accompany a group of Arctic Explorers led by Sir Edward Belcher, who set out to discover the Northwest Passage. Bowen's story weaves together three of his favorite pastimes and is sure to attract audiences who share his love for beer, history and motorcycles. In July 2010, Bowen, Dick Gethin and John Chay set out on a 3 week journey which departs from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and travels roughly 2,000 miles north to the Canadian Arctic. This modern day adventure is one of recreation and discovery as they ride adventure-style motorcycles and visit French Canadian breweries, Inuit & Cree Indian villages, as well as other historical locations along the way. Upon reaching the shoreline of the Hudson\\/James Bay, Bowen will recreate the original Allsopp\\u2019s recipe by constructing a portable brewery able to produce beer outdoors in the extreme elements. The entire journey will be filmed and made into a 60-minute documentary called Arctic Alchemy - Discoveries of the Red Hand.
