Help!

I don't know who to contact about a possible scam on Medicare recipents. I tried to call Medicare and Social Security but all I could get was press this number, etc. and ask me if my subject fit their menu. Could not get to talk with a person to see if this is true

I received a telephone call with no ID Number or name and the person on the phone (possibly a Nigerian) said he was calling for the Medical Office and they were getting ready to send my new Medicare Pharmacy Card, but they needed me to verify some things. I told them I don't get Parmasutical benefits because I have other insurance. He said I do get this card. He had my name & address. He said since my Social Security check is deposited directly to my bank, would I verify my bank's name. I did tell him, before I realized something may be wrong. He then said he would connect me to their Legal Department and for me to get a pencil and paper ready and get out my check book and turn to the last check I wrote and down on the bottom of the check were some numbers and I should read them to him. I asked him why would he need my checking account number and he kind of got impatient with me and said he had explained to me a couple of times now that he worked for the Medical Office and they need that information. I told him, no, I'm not giving you my checking account number, and I had already given him the name of my bank and then I hung up. I am afraid he or they are calling a lot of older people on Medicare and probably some of them will give them all the information they want about their bank and checking account number.

Is there someone at your company who can find out if indeed this is really about a new Medicare Pharmacy Discount card of if this is a scam which many older people may fall for? And if this is not true, can you put it on the news to warn people to be aware of this?

I don't know what else to do.
